Below you will find several links that direct you to resources for your family and children. If you need support in connecting with a resource, please call the main office at 303-387-4500 and ask for the School Social Worker or School Psychologist.

 

Douglas County Youth Resource Guide

This resource is a comprehensive guide to a variety of resources. Resources include information on mental health supports, arts and culture, child welfare, cyber safety, dental care, domestic violence, driver instruction, GLBTQ, grief, health, legal assistance and more. You can also check out the Douglas County Youth Initiative website.

Families First Colorado

Families First provides services which strengthen families, empower parents, and nurture children. Families First is available to anyone parenting a child, and they help all parents - single parents, teen parents, Dads, grandparents (raising their grandchildren), Spanish-speaking parents. They are a non-judgmental, welcoming place where parents and children can get support. Families First provides a Family Support Line, a Circle of Parents® Support Groups, Parent Education Classes, and other services.

Love and Logic Institute

Love and Logic is a parenting philosophy founded in 1977 by Jim Fay and Foster W. Cline, M.D. It is the approach of choice among leading educators, parents, and other professionals worldwide. The Love and Logic Institute is dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. They provide practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children. All of our work is based on a psychologically sound parenting and teaching philosophy called Love and Logic®.

Parenting PhD

Parenting PhD is brought to you by the Parenting Coalition of Douglas County. The Parenting Coalition is a collaborative effort between parents, the school district, law enforcement, youth initiatives, private therapists, recreational programs, domestic violence specialists, learning specialists and other community members dedicated to identifying the real needs of Douglas County families and implementing effective strategies to address those needs. The Parenting Coalition meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m.

Family Resource Pavilion

The Family Resource Pavilion is a community partnership that provides a comprehensive network of support services to young people and their families. Please call them directly at 720-213-1400. Families may call and participate in a free strengths-based assessment that is then used to link families and children to an appropriate service.

Outside Agencies

Complaints regarding violations of Title VI, (race, national origin), Title IX (sex, gender), Section 504/ADA (handicap or disability), may be filed directly with the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, 1244 North Speer Blvd., Suite 310, Denver, CO 80204. Complaints regarding violations of Title VII (employment) and the ADEA (prohibiting age discrimination in employment) may be filed directly with the Federal Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 303 E. 17th Ave., Suite 510, Denver, CO 80202, or the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, 1560 Broadway, Suite 1050, Denver, CO 80202.

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
