What is DECA?
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with our organization has resonated into a brand that people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved as we use the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research. Our core focus has remained consistent and is captured in our mission.
Meeting times:
Meetings will happen exclusively around competition dates in our prominent competition season (fall/winter). No weekly meetings, only for spread of important information/ when necessary.
Our intention is to use the time in Business classes to help prepare students for DECA and FBLA Competitions.
Opportunities within DECA:
Become a Legend or State officer, letter for DECA, get involved with the community, participate in real-world business scenario events, learn more about business in required class, find a community within LHS
How DECA works:
Towards the beginning of the year there are multiple invitational events designed for practice and preparation for districts. In the district competition, Legend competes in the 11th district; along with Ponderosa, Chaparral, and Douglas County; in order to place in your event and qualify for state. The state competition held at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs is a premier business event, giving the opportunity to compete against the top future business and marketing leaders in Colorado. The qualifiers here will move on to a final International Career Development Conference (ICDC) with the chance to compete with the best of the best in the world!
