Class of 2021 Senior Week/Graduation Information

Monday, May 10th
Top Golf from 11:00-2:00 pm  (this is a student organized event!)

Tuesday, May 11th
Rockies Game at 6:40pm. Tickets are $15. Tickets can be purchased using this link.  You will need to create an account to purchase tickets. Once you have created the account, purchase tickets in section 312 to sit with other Legend seniors. 


Wednesday, May 12th, 9:00am-10:00am, Senior Assembly, Senior Panoramic

This time slot has changed slightly from what was originally advertised.  Seniors will come to Legend at 9:00am on Wednesday.  They will participate in the Senior Panoramic as well as enjoy the Senior Assembly, which is a special assembly in honor of all seniors.  The senior assembly is a time to reflect upon the past four years and express gratitude to special people at school who have made a difference in each senior’s life. 

Wednesday, May 12th, 10:00am-11:00am, Senior Checkout

Checkout forms were distributed to seniors two weeks ago.  Seniors have until May 12th to gather signatures and complete the form. The completed check-out form is required for participation in graduation. If you are participating in the ceremony for graduation, you must have a completed Code of Conduct Agreement on file in order to officially check-out and receive graduation tickets.  

Final Check out means…Every senior has met all graduation credit requirements, has on file a Code of Conduct Agreement, and has completed the final check-out form with all required signatures. All fees/fines must be paid in full this day. When the check-out form is reviewed and approved, the senior will be given their cap and gown as well as six complimentary graduation tickets for the graduation ceremony. Admittance to EchoPark Stadium in Parker is by ticket only—all adults and school-age children must have a ticket to enter. If your family will require more tickets, please gather more from other families with seniors.

Wednesday, May 12th, 12:00pm-2:00pm, Senior Luncheon 

The Senior Luncheon is a time for seniors to gather at Boondocks.  Students will eat and enjoy entertainment at this event.  You must purchase tickets to attend.  Cost is $25. Purchase tickets using this link

Thursday, May 13th, 6:30pm, Senior BBQ and Bonfire

This event will be held on the track and field at Legend.  Food trucks will be available.

Friday, May 14th, 6:45pm, Senior Car Parade and Senior Sunset.

This is a student organized event with the parade beginning at 6:45pm in the lower parking lot and ending with sunset watching at Tallman Park.  

Monday, May 17th, 6:30pm, Senior Honors Convocation 

Senior Honors Convocation is an evening to recognize members of the Class of 2021 for academic achievement.  All seniors who will be recognized during the evening have received an invitation to attend and are to meet at Southeast Christian Church at 5:45pm.  Dress code for the evening is a white long-sleeve dress shirt with a blue or dark tie, khaki colored slacks or pants, dark colored dress shoes and dark socks for males.  Females will wear dresses or skirts that do not hang below their gown.  If females wear pants, they need to be full length and khaki color.  Over their clothes, Seniors who are being honored are to wear their graduation gown which they will receive at senior checkout.  Please do not bring your graduation cap.  

Tuesday, May 18th, 1:00pm, Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal

All seniors who plan to participate in the graduation ceremony MUST attend graduation rehearsal. Seniors must be in attendance for the duration of the rehearsal. All seniors must be at EchoPark Stadium in Parker by 1:00pm and sitting in their assigned seat. Please dress accordingly for the weather (i.e. sunscreen, hat, shorts, water)  It is casual!  We expect to be done with rehearsal by 2:30pm at the latest.

Graduates will find out where they are sitting this day and be able to communicate with family members which side of the stadium they will enter and receive their diploma on.  The seating chart of graduates will also be posted on our website under the graduation information section as we get closer to that date.

Wednesday, May 19th, 10:00am, Graduation

Graduating seniors are to be dressed appropriately (as outlined in the Code of Conduct Agreement) in their cap and gown and are to be at EchoPark Stadium between 9:00am-9:15am Wednesday morning. Only the stoles and cords provided by Legend will be allowed to be worn by the graduates.  Any other personal embellishment will be taken and held for students to pick up after the ceremony.  Seniors are to leave cell phones, purses, sunglasses, and any other items at home or with family members. Once a senior enters EchoPark Stadium, the Code of Conduct Agreement is in effect and remains in effect until the senior has been issued their diploma.

Gates will open at 9:15am for open seating at EchoPark Stadium in Parker. At graduation rehearsal, each student will know which side they are entering from, sitting on, and which podium their name is being read from. Please ask your student this information after rehearsal so you can be sure to see them as much as possible during the ceremony. Both sides of the stadium will be used for seating and for presenting to.

Pictures of the graduates are being taken by Lifetouch. They will be taking formal pictures at the stadium as students enter.  The pictures are available for purchase via the email provided by the student on check out day. There is no video available of graduation. Graduations will be streamed live via the Douglas County School District Communications Department.  The link will be provided on the Legend website when it becomes available.

Immediately following the ceremony, graduates are escorted to an area on the track to pick up their official diploma. This process takes approximately 10 minutes.  During this time, we ask that all family members remain in the stands to allow students to receive their actual diploma.  We appreciate in advance your kindness, consideration, and patience on this day.  

We anticipate the ceremony to be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes for your planning purposes.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony may be delayed, yet still performed at the stadium.  The Legend website will be the avenue for communication regarding a change of venue and/or a delayed start time for graduation at the stadium.

General Graduation Information

Attire

Legend wants to continue the tradition of hosting a formal and dignified ceremony.  This includes adhering to the graduation ceremony dress code. Please note:  Dress code will be strictly enforced.

Only the stole and cords provided by Legend will be allowed to be worn by the graduates.  Any other personal embellishment will be taken and held for students to pick up after the ceremony.

Male Grads: Khaki slacks, a white long-sleeve shirt, a dark colored tie (no bow ties), and dark dress shoes – no athletic shoes or sandals.

Female Grads: Dresses – length shorter than gown.  Pants - Khaki, a white blouse, Shoes: dress shoes, dress sandals –no flip-flops. Avoid high heels due to the amount of walking and turf field.



Caps and Gowns

Caps and Gowns will be distributed at Senior Checkout on May 12.


Code of Conduct

The graduation ceremony is a celebration for graduates and their families.  Everyone attending deserves the opportunity to enjoy the ceremony.  Excessive applause and cheering for a specific student diminishes the experience for the next graduate.

Noisemakers such as cow bells, air horns, beach balls, silly string are not allowed.  Again, Legend wants to maintain a formal and dignified environment.

Legend High School, consistent with District policy and State law, reserves the right to remove from the ceremony any individual whose behavior or appearance serves to detract from the dignity of the occasion.   

Please Note: Any inappropriate behavior during second semester or at Prom may jeopardize a senior’s participation in the graduation ceremony.


Parking


Family and friends need to plan ahead for drive time and parking.  Refer to our website for parking locations. There is no reserved seating. Handicapped parking & seating is available at the stadium.


Tickets

Upon completion of checkout, each graduating senior will receive tickets for the graduation ceremony. Each adult and school age child must have a ticket to enter. The number of tickets given to seniors will be determined and communicated closer to the event. More details regarding seating and tickets will be posted on this website.


Weather Information


The ceremony will take place, rain or shine.  If inclement weather occurs, a delayed schedule will be posted on the school and district websites.
