Student Wellness & Mental Health Services

As human beings, our hope in life is that we thrive, flourish, and feel a deep sense of well-being. Legend mental health staff provide an array of services that strive toward this goal, including consultation, assessment, skill development, prevention, and counseling intervention. As a school mental health team, our goal is to build a positive school community where students learn the skills they need to be academically and socially competent. That's because students need both academic and social-emotional smarts to succeed and be happy in life.

At Legend, student wellness and mental health staff work with students, their families, teachers, and other school personnel to help students manage and resolve the social, emotional, academic, and behavioral concerns that interfere with their academic and life development. Supports are available to all students, which also includes students on Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, or Response to Intervention plans.

LHS mental health staff implement the District's Student Wellness and Prevention Framework and they provide solution-focused, short-term counseling sessions based on student need. For example, we work with students on organization and study skills, depression/anxiety, stress management, school refusal, substance abuse, grief, divorce, LGBTQ concerns, conflict resolution, emotion regulation and frustration tolerance, suicide prevention and awareness, and crisis support.

LHS Mental health staff work closely with our student advisors, and we are out and about in the school interacting with students, staff and parents.
