Health Services

At Legend, we have a TBI/Concussion team consisting of myself, Dr. Christopher Saiz, School Psychologist, and Sara Kramer, Athletic Trainer. A concussion may affect a student’s ability to learn. Because every brain and every student is different, every concussion is different. Recovery time will be unique to each student, requiring an individualized approach to determine when it is appropriate to begin to return to athletic activity and full academics. Therefore, it is essential to have a concussion adjustment plan in place to help concussed students heal while continuing their education. Together, the concussion team will work to provide students support and guidance.

If you have any concerns about your student’s attendance due to health please refer to the District's Guidelines for Determining Student Attendance. As always, if you have any questions or concerns in regards to your student’s health and attending school, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The Legend High School Attendance Line is 303-387-4502.

The health room is located in the front office. Students are allowed to visit the health room for illness, injury, and/or health support they may need. Legend also has District Health Assistants that are trained in Basic First Aid/CPR and receive specific training and delegation from the School Nurse. High school students may carry a one-day supply of prescription and/or over-the-counter medication in its original container without a “permission to carry medication” form on file. Please see the district medication policy for more information. If your student will have medications in the Health Room, the District Provider Authorization Form must be completed. This is required for all emergency, daily, and over-the-counter medications kept in the health room. We DO NOT have any medications such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or Benadryl available for students at school.

Immunization Exemptions

Immunization exemptions are required to be renewed annually. For the 2025-2026 school year, there will be two ways to submit a non-medical exemption. Please visit the CDPHE vaccine exemptions webpage for more exemption information and requirements.

• Submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption WITH a signature from your healthcare provider who is a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathic medicine, advanced practice nurse or delegated physician’s assistant.

• OR submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption received upon the completion of Online Immunization Education Module.
